Release Manager

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Release Manager to join our Group IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing release management across multiple applications and platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive results and progress forward!
Role Overview
As a Release Manager within Group IT, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases, ensuring seamless deployment across all IT platforms. Your expertise will ensure the timely and efficient delivery of new features, bug fixes, and system enhancements, all while maintaining smooth operations and adequate resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities:
Release Management
- Lead and coordinate release activities for applications and systems within Group IT. Collaborate and work closely with project managers, product owners, development teams to prioritize releases and manage expectations
- Identify potential risks related to releases and manage blockers effectively, ensuring timely escalation when necessary. Facilitate the resolution of any blockers to ensure smooth releases
- Develop and maintain release schedules, ensuring alignment with development, testing, and deployment teams
- Oversee the deployment of releases across environments (development, testing, staging, and production), ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Perform post-release reviews, track issues, and ensure quick resolution
- Implement continuous improvement processes for release cycles to increase efficiency and automation as well as reduce risks
- Work closely with IT operations, infrastructure and application teams to monitor and manage system performance, identifying potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement
- Ensure the availability of necessary resources for successful release management
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with development, testing, IT operations to ensure smooth and timely releases
- Provide expert guidance on capacity and performance issues during the software development lifecycle and post-deployment
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify opportunities for process automation and improvement in both release management and capacity planning
- Introduce best practices, tools, and techniques to enhance the release and capacity management process
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement to enhance the quality, speed, and reliability of releases
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience in release management, project management, or a similar role
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle. Practical experience in Jira, Jira Plans, Confluence, and deep knowledge and understanding of Scrum methodology
- Excellent organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with release management tools and software
- Knowledge of capacity management principles and practices
