A Cultural Mosaic
Adriana’s Journey in a Multinational Workplace at 3Shape
Adriana, a Brazilian colleague with Japanese heritage, has always thrived in multicultural environments. Her international background has given her a unique outlook on the world, and working at 3Shape, a Danish company with a diverse workforce from numerous countries, feels like the perfect match.
“I think 3Shape is, well, I would almost say unique,” Adriana shares. “We have people from over 30 different nationalities here at the headquarters in Denmark alone. And when we look beyond Denmark, we’re present in so many different countries, creating an environment that anyone would dream of working in.”
For Adriana, the true value of this diversity lies in how different cultures enrich the work environment.
"We have a concept in our canteen called Culture Days where our chefs celebrate all nationalities by cooking dishes from different countries. They include the relevant colleagues in finding and selecting ideas for the menu. I was a part of the Brazilian day, It was so much fun."
Belonging Beyond Borders
Adriana feels fully integrated at 3Shape and recognizes how the company has fostered a unique sense of inclusion:
“I feel that I belong to this company,” she says. “Everyone here brings their own cultural background, tools, knowledge, and stories. I don’t feel like an outsider.”
In her role in global marketing, Adriana constantly sees the impact of cultural diversity in her daily work:
“In my team, we have people from Argentina, Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, and more,” she notes. “This mix helps us when we’re proofreading materials or brainstorming campaigns. For example, by having diverse cultural backgrounds, we view objects, phrases and symbols in completely different ways. It’s super interesting to get this feedback from different perspectives, and I think it’s really cool that we can have this diversity so close within one team”.
Adriana believes that this exchange of knowledge goes beyond making better campaigns – it builds empathy:
“By asking questions and being curious about other people’s backgrounds, we allow ourselves to develop empathy and understand why someone may work more effectively in a certain way because of their cultural background,” she says.
A Career Built on Multiculturalism
Adriana’s career has always been shaped by global environments:
“I’ve always been driven by multicultural workplaces,” she reflects. “It’s how I’ve built my career, and I’ve found opportunities to explore the world by being part of international companies.”
This deep appreciation for multiculturalism, both professionally and personally, is something Adriana carries with her every day:
“At 3Shape, I’m really happy to be recognized for who I am as a professional. My international experience and background have shaped my skills, and I’m glad I can use them to contribute to the company.”
Adriana’s journey is more than a personal achievement—it’s a reminder of how diverse workplaces can enrich our collective understanding, leading to stronger, more empathetic communities both inside and outside of the office. At 3Shape, she has found a place where her diverse background is not only appreciated but serves as a bridge to building empathy and fidning broader perspectives within her field.
