We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our Skopje office, an integrated part of Product Creation at 3Shape to lead the local TRIOS Software project team and take on people management for the 11 TRIOS team members in Skopje, while staying aligned with the project’s future technology, software development and project delivery needs.

You will report to the Head of Scanning Applications and have a secondary reporting line to the General Manager of 3Shape Macedonia. In this role, you will work closely with Product Management, Engineering Managers, Architects, Quality Assurance, and other stakeholders across Product Creation.

The Position

As Software Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility is to create the conditions that allow software professionals to thrive. You will develop talent, strengthen organizational capability, and ensure your team has the support, direction, and environment needed to succeed.

While delivery and project-related responsibilities remain part of the role, the primary focus is people leadership and organizational effectiveness.

Your responsibilities:

People Leadership

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop software engineers and technical specialists.

• Create a culture of trust, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning.

• Conduct regular performance reviews, career development discussions, and coaching sessions.

• Develop individual development plans and support long-term career growth.

• Build succession plans and ensure organizational resilience through talent development.

• Foster employee engagement, motivation, wellbeing, and retention.

• Resolve organizational challenges and remove obstacles that affect team performance.

• Establish a positive and high-performing engineering culture.

Organizational and Team Effectiveness

• Support effective resource planning and capacity management.

• Align team capabilities with business and product needs.

• Continuously improve engineering practices, team processes, and collaboration models.

• Facilitate communication and collaboration across Product Management, Architecture, Quality Assurance, and Engineering leadership.

• Support organizational initiatives and leadership activities across Product Creation.

Delivery Support

• Support planning and execution of software development initiatives.

• Monitor team priorities, delivery commitments, risks, and dependencies.

• Assist in balancing business objectives with sustainable team development.

• Ensure effective stakeholder alignment and transparent communication regarding team commitments.

Technical Leadership Support

• Maintain sufficient technical understanding to effectively support and coach the team.

• Participate in technical discussions, technology evaluations, and engineering improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with architects and technical leaders to support long-term technical direction.

Your Profile

• To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• At least 8 years of professional software development experience.

• At least 5 years of people management experience in software engineering organizations.

• Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams.

• Experience with recruitment, coaching, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Understanding software architecture, software engineering principles, and modern development practices.

• Technical credibility and the ability to engage constructively in technical discussions.

• Professional proficiency in English.
