Practical Requirements

Purpose of the Role

The Localization Team Leader owns the localization function end-to-end — people, performance, quality, delivery, and budget. Localization is a global service function supporting the entire company. This is a people-first leadership role: the TL drives strategy, develops the team, manages external partners, and represents localization boldly across the organization.

1. People Leadership & Team Development

• Own all people management: 1:1s, performance reviews, CRDs, development plans, and wellbeing

• Define team composition and FTE planning; assign roles based on evolving business needs

• Develop translators through expanded responsibilities and career path evolution

• Ensure no critical knowledge sits with a single person — build shared ownership across the team

2. Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Act as the primary localization voice — bold, proactive, and with a wide area of influence

• Proactively communicate with local market stakeholders on quality, feedback, risks, and capacity

• Strengthen collaboration with Product Creation & Commercial areas

• Maintain strong relationships with key regional markets

• Represent localization in decision-making forums — with ownership, not just presence

• Challenge the status quo: raise issues, drive improvements, advocate for localization

3. Performance, Governance & KPIs

• Own team KPIs: CSAT 4.0+; 90% of requests via governance process by Q3 2026

• Implement and maintain approval and prioritization mechanisms for localization requests

• Drive AI translation efficiency — define quality targets (e.g. max 20% manual edits)

• Own task intake, prioritization, and assignment across the team

• Reduce unnecessary spend — focus resources on high-impact languages and content

4. External Partners & Budget

• Own agency relationships —delivery, quality, invoices, and SLA

• Manage the localization budget — external spend, agency costs, and tool subscriptions

• Proactively identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality

• Hold agencies to agreed standards and review partnerships for efficiency

5. Strategy & Tools

• Co-own localization strategy and goals with Department Manager and General Manager

• Accountable for the tools the team uses — fit for purpose, adopted, AI-first and delivering results

• Make the Localization function strategic and proactive - a global voice with global impact.

• Ensure team adherence to office presence targets and local policy compliance.
