Data Governance Specialist
Join 3Shape as Data Governance Specialist!
Do you want to play a key role in strengthening how data is managed, governed, and used across one of Denmark’s fastest-growing, EQT-backed MedTech companies in the dental industry? Are you passionate about helping business teams take ownership of their data and enabling better decision-making through clear governance practices? Would you like to contribute to the continued maturity of data governance in an international environment where collaboration, business impact, and continuous improvement are at the heart of how we work? Then join 3Shape’s Data Management Office as a Data Governance Specialist.
The role
We are looking for a structured and business-oriented Data Governance Specialist to join our Data Management Office, a strategic focus area at 3Shape. In this role, you will partner with business functions to implement and maintain effective data governance practices across the organization.
You will support assigned data domains such as Product, Customer, Vendor, and Finance by guiding stakeholders on data ownership, governance standards, and data quality. Acting as the bridge between business teams and the Data Management Office, you will help embed governance into business processes, drive adoption of governance practices, and support greater accountability for critical data assets.
What you will do:
Be the primary governance contact for assigned business domains, serving as the main point of coordination between business stakeholders and the Data Management Office.
Translate data governance policies, standards and frameworks into practical guidance that business teams can understand and apply in their daily work.
Support business stakeholders in clarifying data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, decision rights and accountability for key master data objects and processes.
Guide and train stakeholders on data governance best practices, including data quality expectations, issue escalation, approval flows, change control, and documentation requirements.
Connect business teams with relevant DMO capabilities, such as data quality, master data operations, data platform and process governance, to ensure aligned execution and effective collaboration.
Facilitate cross-functional governance forums to align on standards, resolve ownership and responsibility gaps, and ensure consistent application of governance practices across domains.
Drive adoption of governance practices by executing structured stakeholder engagement plans, delivering targeted training and communication, and tracking implementation of agreed governance actions.
Monitor governance adherence and help track outcomes through indicators such as stakeholder engagement, policy compliance, ownership coverage, data quality improvements, and closure of governance-related actions.
Identify gaps in governance maturity within assigned domains and propose practical improvements to strengthen accountability, consistency, and business participation.
Act as the governance liaison to Group IT, ensuring that data-related change requests, enhancements, and defect fixes are clearly defined, prioritized, and translated into effective system updates.
Develop and maintain governance materials, including role descriptions, process documentation, training content, and communication materials to support consistent and scalable implementation across the organization.
Your profile
What we are hoping you will bring:
Experience working with data governance, master data, data quality, information management, or related business process disciplines, supported by a degree in information management, business administration, IT, data management, or a related field.
A good understanding of data ownership, governance models, data quality practices, and the role of business accountability in creating trusted and well-managed data.
Strong ability to work across business and technical functions, translating governance concepts, standards, and policies into practical, business-relevant actions.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage, guide, and influence stakeholders without direct authority across different functions and seniority levels.
Experience facilitating workshops, governance forums, cross-functional discussions, or alignment activities where decisions, responsibilities, and next steps need to be made clear.
A structured and detail-oriented approach to documentation, follow-up, process coordination, and adoption tracking, combined with a pragmatic mindset and a drive to make governance work in practice.
Curiosity, collaboration, and a genuine passion for improving data quality, ownership, and governance maturity in a business environment undergoing digital and operational transformation.
