3Shape is offering an exciting opportunity for a patent attorney to accelerate their learning and career at a vibrant, and forward-looking technology company. You will join our IP group that is part of our Legal team and is jointly responsible for all matters relating to legal and intellectual property.

Your Role

You will have an integral part in advancing patent activities in a strategically new opportunity area within digital dentistry. The includes activities addressing capitalizing on patent opportunities with initial efforts focussed on mitigation of IP risks by conducting and supporting FTO and clearance analyses for new and existing products. The role offers extensive learning opportunities through close collaboration and visibility across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting freedom-to-operate investigations for products, features, and technology platforms, in collaboration with other IP colleagues.

• Strategizing, drafting, and prosecuting commercially relevant patent applications.

• Collaborating with product strategy and R&D teams to provide patent consulting throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept to development and market launch.

• Monitoring third party patent filings and portfolios and preparing summaries and insights for internal stakeholders.

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a solid patent foundation and is motivated to grow within an in-house IP team:

• A university degree in physics, software, optics, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related technical field.

• A few years of experience working with patents, either in private practice or inhouse, preferably with an exposure to FTO, or patent studies.

• An ability to analyze patent claims and technical disclosures with guidance and sparring from more senior patent attorneys.

• Strong communication skills and an interest in translating patent findings into clear and practical input for technical and business colleagues.

• A structured, curious, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.
