We are looking for our new colleague, who will be driving our supplier’s quality through proactive risk mitigation and compliance & Standards Adherence. You will be able to develop and implement supplier quality control plans, inspection methods, and quality protocols for our new products. Likewise, you will be able to influence supplier’s capabilities to meet quality and performance expectations, using your strong sense relationship building.
As our new team member, you will you join the Procurement & Supplier Quality Assurance Group, a matrix-based organisation based across geographical locations. This role is new in 3Shape and will likewise be part of R&D where you will have your daily work majority. In this new role, we expect you to be spokesman for the Quality adherence and continue to improve our way of engaging suppliers in the NPI phase.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Qualification & Audits: Conducts audits (system, process, product) and manages the qualification process for new strategic suppliers.
NPI Project Leadership: Leads quality aspects of NPI, defining requirements, assessing risks, and ensuring supplier readiness for new product launches.
Advanced Quality Planning (APQP): Leading the industrialization process using frameworks like APQP to mitigate risks early in the product lifecycle.
PPAP Management: Manages the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new parts, changes, and reallocations.
Risk Management: Identifies, assesses, and mitigates quality risks from suppliers, including obsolescence, counterfeiting, and compliance issues.
Process Development: Develops and implements supplier quality control plans, inspection methods, and quality protocols for new products.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works with Design, Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to integrate quality early in the design phase.
Performance Monitoring: Monitors supplier quality performance, analyses data, and reports on KPIs.
Problem Solving: Drives root cause analysis (RCA) and implements robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Communication – establishes relationship and communication paths between R&D, Supplier, Manufacturing Plant.
Qualifications:
To qualify for the role of a NPI Supplier Quality Engineer, you need to have:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering and or quality management, supply chain management
Proven experience as a Quality Engineer, ideally within implementation of new products/projects
Knowledge of statistics, quality control, manufacturing processes, and project management is essential. A degree in these fields helps you to develop a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge, which can be applied in practice throughout your career.
Experience in working with Standard Quality Tools (APQP, 8D, MSA, SPC, FMEA, PPAP, Lean, ISO9001 and ISO13485)
Obtained relevant certifications (such as QCE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt) will be an advantage.
