One of 3Shape priorities is to utilize cloud providers for us to deliver services internally as well as externally to our customers. To do so, we are growing our services in Microsoft Azure, our primary cloud provider.

We are using our cloud providers for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, and to support us going forward we want to grow our capabilities and responsibilities by building a Cloud Center of Excellence.

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer who preferably has operations experience. The position is in a team who is currently involved in DevOps for a number of projects, however it is likely that this team will be part of the future R&D Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE).

The team is responsible for some central services in the cloud today, and we want to add more DevOps capabilities to support the projects in the department. Together with the rest of 3Shape we will work on setting the standards for DevOps in Azure including helping the projects adding more focus on Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and assisting the teams managing the infrastructure.

We are building a 24x7 operations function, and you will be a key player in working together with them making sure that they have the right tools, monitors, scripts for them to monitor and enable them to service our systems while we are not at work.

Key areas of responsibility

- Taking over management of some services and assisting management of other services. This could include:

• Provisioning additional capacity.
• Building and maintaining scripts for Infrastructure-as-Code together with the project teams
• Deploying/applying software updates as directed by DevOps
• Assisting in troubleshooting QA environments.

- Monitor and respond to platform service incidents, e.g. by

• Increasing our monitoring capabilities

• Developing log monitors to scan for errors and other anomalies.

• Developing what-if scenarios for the operations team to work from

• Performing daily assessments of trend performance data and develop automated detection methods to spot problems.

• Understanding, implementing, and automating security controls, governance processes and compliance validation.

- Working together with support, operations, and development teams to troubleshoot, isolate, and remediate all incidents until resolution.

Skills & Requirements

• Min 3 years of cloud DevOps experience

• Strong understanding of cloud applications, concepts and the storage, compute, networking and database components of Microsoft Azure

• Microsoft Azure monitoring and operations

• Microsoft Azure DevOps

• DevOps mindset

• Fluent in English (oral & written)

It would be considered a bonus if you also have knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, SSL and automated tools. Same goes for software development skills using C#, as it is expected that you use infrastructure as code, as well as assist in finding bugs or improvements in existing software by looking into the code.
